Terms of Use
Effective date: April 8, 2026
These Terms of Use govern access to and use of Picmu at picmu.com.
By using Picmu, the user acknowledges that the user has read, understood, and agreed to these Terms.
As of the date of this version, Picmu is provided free of charge unless expressly stated otherwise on a specific product page.
01
1. About Picmu
Picmu is a browser-based media toolkit for practical work with images, video, and audio.
The product is structured around clear task-specific routes rather than a generic all-purpose editor.
Picmu aims to describe browser limitations, export behavior, codec support, and environment-dependent results in a technically candid manner.
02
2. Free service
As of the date of this version, Picmu is provided free of charge.
The website does not process payments and does not provide paid access unless expressly stated in the interface or in an updated version of these Terms.
We may in the future modify features, introduce limitations, remove specific functionality, or establish separate terms for new features.
03
3. No mandatory account in the ordinary flow
Picmu is designed so that, in the ordinary user flow, it may be used without a mandatory account.
If future features introduce user accounts, saved workspaces, or other personalized functionality, separate terms may apply to those features.
04
4. Local processing and environment limitations
In the ordinary workflow, core file processing takes place locally in the browser.
Performance, codec support, decoding behavior, encoding behavior, export reliability, print suitability, memory usage, and overall stability depend on the browser, device, operating system, hardware, and runtime environment.
Audio, video, and image capabilities differ across browsers, and a file that can be previewed is not necessarily guaranteed to be editable, exportable, or reproducible in every environment.
The user is solely responsible for testing important outputs in the environment in which they are intended to be used.
05
5. No warranties
Picmu is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.
We do not warrant uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, support for every browser or device, support for any particular format or codec, or compatibility with every workflow.
We do not promise impossible quality enhancement, universal codec support, exact preservation of all format characteristics, or guaranteed compatibility with every browser, printer, media pipeline, archival standard, publishing process, or downstream environment.
06
6. User responsibility for files and outputs
The user is responsible for the legality of the files used in Picmu and for the legality of any subsequent use, publication, transfer, printing, distribution, or delivery of resulting outputs.
The user must ensure that the user has all rights, permissions, and lawful grounds necessary to process the relevant files.
The user is also solely responsible for reviewing and confirming the suitability of outputs before using them in production, commercial, client, legal, publishing, archival, or print contexts.
07
7. Permitted use
Picmu may be used only in a lawful manner and in a way that does not infringe the rights of others or interfere with the security or normal operation of the website.
The service may not be used to distribute unlawful material, malicious code, deceptive content, or materials that the user has no right to process.
Picmu may not be used in a manner that imposes abusive load, compromises service integrity, or attempts to interfere with ordinary website operation.
08
8. Prohibited conduct
Prohibited conduct includes malicious automation, destructive data scraping, attempts to circumvent technical limitations, interference with the website, exploitation of vulnerabilities, unauthorized extraction of protected materials, and prohibited reverse engineering to the extent restricted by applicable law.
The service may not be used for fraud, deception, unlawful surveillance, or any other unlawful activity.
09
9. Intellectual property
All rights in and to the website, its structure, design, text, route names, brand elements, interface decisions, and related materials belong to us or our licensors.
These Terms do not transfer ownership of the website or its materials to the user, except for the limited right to use Picmu for its intended purpose.
10
10. Third-party services and infrastructure
Picmu may rely on third-party infrastructure and services, including hosting, analytics, content delivery, and other technical solutions.
We do not fully control third-party websites or services and are not responsible for their availability, content, security, or separate legal terms.
11
11. Availability, updates, and discontinuation
We may at any time modify, suspend, limit, or discontinue Picmu or any part of its functionality.
We are under no obligation to preserve any particular route, tool, format, output behavior, integration, or prior interface behavior indefinitely.
12
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profit, business, opportunity, reputation, or other intangible loss arising out of or relating to the use of, or inability to use, Picmu.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
13
13. Privacy
Use of Picmu is also governed by our Privacy Policy.
By using the website, the user acknowledges that information may be processed as described in that Policy.
14
14. Governing law and severability
Unless otherwise stated on a specific project page, these Terms shall be interpreted in accordance with the mandatory provisions of applicable law that cannot be excluded by agreement.
If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
