Privacy Policy
Effective date: April 8, 2026
Picmu is a browser-based media toolkit for practical work with images, video, and audio. In the ordinary course of use, core file processing takes place locally in the user's browser rather than through a remote media-processing server.
This Privacy Policy explains what information may be processed when Picmu is used, why such processing may occur, and what choices are available to users.
This version applies to picmu.com.
01
1. Who operates Picmu
Picmu is created and maintained by Sergey Solod ("we," "us," or "our").
For privacy, data protection, or legal inquiries, please contact: sergeissolod@gmail.com.
02
2. How Picmu works
Picmu is a static frontend product hosted on Vercel infrastructure.
In the ordinary user flow, core processing of images, video, and audio takes place locally on the user's device in the browser.
We do not provide a remote media-processing server as part of the standard operation of the product.
Certain technical data may nevertheless be processed for website delivery, security, analytics, error diagnosis, or handling user inquiries.
03
3. Information we may process
Information voluntarily provided by the user, such as an email address and the contents of a message when contacting us.
Technical information necessary to display, secure, and maintain the website, including IP address, browser type, device information, operating system information, requested page addresses, referring source, date and time of access, and similar technical data.
Analytical information concerning page visits, on-site behavior, feature usage, and similar metrics, where analytics is enabled and permitted under applicable law.
Local browser data such as interface language, user preferences, selected workflows, and similar minor settings that may be stored through cookies, browser local storage, or comparable technologies.
04
4. User files and local processing
Core user files are intended to be processed locally in the browser and are not transmitted by us to a remote media-processing service as part of the ordinary operation of the product.
This applies to the standard use of Picmu routes for images, video, and audio, including tasks such as conversion, compression, resizing, trimming, merging, normalization, waveform analysis, cleanup, print preparation, and export, to the extent supported by the browser environment.
Files may temporarily reside in browser memory, temporary browser mechanisms, or outputs deliberately saved by the user to the user's own device.
The privacy of local processing also depends on the user's device, browser, browser extensions, antivirus software, operating system, and overall local environment.
05
5. Cookies, browser storage, and analytics
We may use strictly necessary cookies and browser storage for the basic operation of the website, preservation of interface language, user preferences, and other technical purposes.
We may also use Yandex Metrica to understand how Picmu is used, which pages and routes are most useful, where issues arise, and how the product may be improved.
We do not seek to transmit names, email addresses, file contents, message contents, or other directly identifying information to analytics systems.
Where optional analytics or similar technologies require consent under applicable law, such technologies should be activated only after valid user consent has been obtained.
06
6. Why we use information
To display the website and ensure its operation.
To preserve interface settings and improve usability.
To analyze stability, performance, feature demand, and route usage.
To respond to messages, bug reports, and product feedback.
To protect the website, prevent abuse, identify technical issues, and comply with applicable legal obligations.
07
7. Legal bases for processing
Where applicable law requires a legal basis for processing personal data, we may rely on one or more of the following: user consent, the necessity of operating the website, our legitimate interests in maintaining security and improving the product, and compliance with legal obligations.
For optional analytics or non-essential cookies, where required by law, we rely on user consent prior to activation.
08
8. Sharing of information
We may share information with infrastructure and technical service providers that help host the website, deliver its content, ensure security, or provide analytics.
We may also disclose information where reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, and legitimate interests, or where required by law, regulation, court order, or lawful request by a public authority.
We do not sell users' personal data as a standalone product.
09
9. International processing
Because the website relies on third-party technology infrastructure, technical and analytics data may be processed in multiple countries depending on provider architecture, traffic routing, and the user's location.
For that reason, we do not represent that all data is stored or processed exclusively in any single country unless expressly stated otherwise on a specific project page.
10
10. Retention
We seek to retain information no longer than is reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy.
User messages may be retained for as long as necessary to respond, continue communications, resolve a dispute, or maintain a reasonable record of correspondence.
Technical and analytical information may be retained in accordance with the settings of the relevant provider or for the period reasonably necessary for security, diagnostics, and statistical analysis.
Local browser settings remain until the user deletes them, clears the browser, or the relevant storage period expires.
11
11. User rights and choices
Depending on the user's location and applicable law, the user may have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, objection to processing, and data portability.
Users may also manage cookies and browser storage through browser settings and, where available, through website consent settings.
To submit a privacy-related request, please contact us at sergeissolod@gmail.com. We may request reasonable verification that the request has been made by the relevant individual.
12
12. Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the website and the information we process. However, no method of transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be absolutely secure.
Please do not send passwords, access credentials, payment information, card numbers, identity documents, confidential client media, or other sensitive information unless specifically requested through an appropriate secure channel.
13
13. Children's data
Picmu is not intended for the deliberate collection of personal data from children below the age at which parental or guardian consent is required under applicable law.
If you believe that a child has improperly provided personal data to us, please contact us at sergeissolod@gmail.com.
14
14. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the product, infrastructure, analytics, legal requirements, or our data-handling practices.
Any updated version becomes effective on the date indicated at the top of the page.
